HANDS ON
Make a symbiosis matching game. Using ten notecards or small pieces of paper, draw a picture of each of the ten animals from the five interesting symbiotic relationships you wrote in your journal (one per card). When you’re finished, see if you can pair them up correctly without looking at your notes.

Evolution: Bacteria to Beethoven (~6 min)
HANDS ON
Using letter tiles from a game (like Scrabble), make a 6 letter word. Mix up the rest of the letters in a bag. Pick one letter tile at random from the bag of extra letters. Now, roll a die to see which letter in your 6 letter word to replace with the letter you picked at random (e.g. If you roll a 1 you replace the first letter, if you roll a 2 you replace the second letter, and so on). When you replaced the letter in your word, did it make another real word that is spelled correctly? (representing a functional DNA strand). Start over. How many times do you get a new word that is a real and correctly spelled word? How does this illustrate the concept from the video regarding the coding of DNA (which is far more complex!)?
HANDS ON
At the end of ICJH Chapter 14, do #4 of the “Just for Fun” activities. How are animals and humans different?

Journal - Use the Quiet Time Response Guide to respond to today’s Bible reading/lesson.
PARENTS/FACILITATORS
Give kids the opportunity to share what they have written in their journals and to ask any lingering questions. If you don’t know the answer to a question, look it up together with the child. Specific instructions for this time are outlined below.
STEP 1
Meet with each child individually. And ask the following questions:
- How did your Quiet Times go this week?
- What did you feel like God was telling you this week? (They can share their answers from their Quiet Time Response Guide if they want to - don’t pressure them).
- What questions did you have this week about the lessons or from your quiet times that haven’t been answered yet?
- Has this been a good week for you? Why or why not?
- What was your favorite thing that you learned this week?
STEP 2
Give them a stamp or sticker in their journal for work well done today.
STEP 3
Give them their Mom/Dad and Me Journal (for writing notes back and forth between them and mom or dad [or facilitator]). Each Friday they will get their journal and can write a note to Mom/Dad and then return the journal to Mom/Dad. During the week Mom/Dad will respond to their note in the journal and return it to them on Friday with a hug and a smile :)
