Matthew Ch. 5 Journal - Use the Quiet Time Response Guide to respond to today’s Bible reading/lesson.

Human Brain and Its Parts (~3 min)

God is creative and as people created in his image, we are also creative. Collect a box of random items from around your home (string, tape, glue, paper, scissors, pipe cleaners, etc.). Use the creativity God has given you to create something interesting! In what ways are we the same as animals? In what ways are we different? Ask kids to share what they have written in their journals and give them time to ask all of their questions. If you don’t know the answer, look it up together. Give kids a stamp or sticker in their journal when you are finished.

Matthew Ch. 27:11-65 and Ch. 28 Journal - Use the Quiet Time Response Guide to respond to today’s Bible reading/lesson.

Give kids the opportunity to share what they have written in their journals and to ask any lingering questions. If you don’t know the answer to a question, look it up together with the child. Specific instructions for this time are outlined below. Meet with each child individually. And ask the following questions:

• How did your Quiet Times go this week?
• What did you feel like God was telling you this week? (They can share their answers from their Quiet Time Response Guide if they want to - don’t pressure them).
• What questions did you have this week about the lessons or from your quiet times that haven’t been answered yet?
• Has this been a good week for you? Why or why not?
• What was your favorite thing that you learned this week?

Give them a stamp or sticker in their journal for work well done today. Give them their Mom/Dad and Me Journal (for writing notes back and forth between them and mom or dad [or facilitator]). Each Friday they will get their journal and can write a note to Mom/Dad and then return the journal to Mom/Dad. During the week Mom/Dad will respond to their note in the journal and return it to them on Friday with a hug and a smile :)
