Fossils 101: National Geographic (~ 4 min.; Briefly mentions evolution twice - good discussion point)

Using Play-Doh or clay and small plastic toys, shells, or other items, have create models of the different types of fossils mentioned in the Fossils 101 video above.

Examining Evidence for Evolution and Deep Time (~30 min - by CMI; CMI is a Christian organization and promotes the young earth theory of creationism which is a good point of reflection if you would like to contemplate the young earth vs old earth creationism debate.)

The Cambrian Explosion (~1 min)

Why do you think the Cambrian Explosion might be a problem for evolutionists?

Why is the Cambrian Explosion Such a Challenge to Darwin’s Theory of the Origin of Life? (~ 3 min; may be over kids’ heads, but it’s short and they might glean something from it. Parents can help them understand afterward.)

Lamentations Ch. 3 Journal - Use the Quiet Time Response Guide to respond to today’s Bible reading/lesson.

Pictures of four different animals. Read ICJH Chapter 10: The Same, Yet Different (Click here to open Amazon's Kindle Cloud Reader) In your journal write the following question, “Is Homology Evidence for Evolution?”. Then watch the video and write down your answer to the question using the information you learn. Be sure to also write down any questions you have and any other interesting facts you learn.

At the end of ICJH Chapter 10, Do Just for Fun #3 (compare pictures of 4 different animals). Ask kids to share what they have written in their journals and give them time to ask all of their questions. If you don’t know the answer, look it up together. Give kids a stamp or sticker in their journal when you are finished.

Ezekiel Ch. 11 Journal - Use the Quiet Time Response Guide to respond to today’s Bible reading/lesson.

Give kids the opportunity to share what they have written in their journals and to ask any lingering questions. If you don’t know the answer to a question, look it up together with the child. Specific instructions for this time are outlined below. Meet with each child individually. And ask the following questions:

• How did your Quiet Times go this week?
• What did you feel like God was telling you this week? (They can share their answers from their Quiet Time Response Guide if they want to - don’t pressure them).
• What questions did you have this week about the lessons or from your quiet times that haven’t been answered yet?
• Has this been a good week for you? Why or why not?
• What was your favorite thing that you learned this week?

Give them a stamp or sticker in their journal for work well done today. Give them their Mom/Dad and Me Journal (for writing notes back and forth between them and mom or dad [or facilitator]). Each Friday they will get their journal and can write a note to Mom/Dad and then return the journal to Mom/Dad. During the week Mom/Dad will respond to their note in the journal and return it to them on Friday with a hug and a smile :)
