A map of the world which shows the mountain ranges (if you do not have a paper map, try this website). Read ICJH Chapter 5: Mysteries of the Earth (Click here to open Amazon's Kindle Cloud Reader) As you watch the following three videos on radiometric dating, write down what you learn in your journal. Don’t forget to write down your questions too.:

Consider potential problems with radiometric dating, how the Bible doesn’t necessarily give us a date for how old the earth is, and why the age of the earth doesn’t matter, with regard to our faith and our salvation. (Do the “Just for Fun” #1 at the end of the ICJH chapter.) Do “Just for Fun” #3 at the end of the ICJH chapter. You will need a map of the world that shows the mountain ranges. Ask kids to share what they have written in their journals and give them time to ask all of their questions. If you don’t know the answer, look it up together. Give kids a stamp or sticker in their journal when you are finished.

2 Chronicles Ch. 32 Journal - Use the Quiet Time Response Guide to respond to today’s Bible reading/lesson.

Coins of different values including a quarter, dime, penny and nickel. Read ICJH Chapter 6: How Science Works (Click here to open Amazon's Kindle Cloud Reader) Do the exercise in the section called “Testing Red’s Theories”. You can discuss this exercise verbally with a friend or family member or you can write the answers in your journal. As you watch the following videos, be sure to write down your questions in your journal. Also, write down the steps in the “scientific method”.

Examine coins of different values (quarter, dime, nickel, penny). Do the exercise at the end of the video above (Is the value of a coin determined by its size?). As you watch the following video, be sure to write down your questions in your journal.

Nehemia Ch. 5 Journal - Use the Quiet Time Response Guide to respond to today’s Bible reading/lesson.

Give kids the opportunity to share what they have written in their journals and to ask any lingering questions. If you don’t know the answer to a question, look it up together with the child. Specific instructions for this time are outlined below. Meet with each child individually. And ask the following questions:

• How did your Quiet Times go this week?
• What did you feel like God was telling you this week? (They can share their answers from their Quiet Time Response Guide if they want to - don’t pressure them).
• What questions did you have this week about the lessons or from your quiet times that haven’t been answered yet?
• Has this been a good week for you? Why or why not?
• What was your favorite thing that you learned this week?

Give them a stamp or sticker in their journal for work well done today. Give them their Mom/Dad and Me Journal (for writing notes back and forth between them and mom or dad [or facilitator]). Each Friday they will get their journal and can write a note to Mom/Dad and then return the journal to Mom/Dad. During the week Mom/Dad will respond to their note in the journal and return it to them on Friday with a hug and a smile :)
